Where Outlaws’ quest design magic138 login really excels, though, is in taking seemingly innocuous side objectives and spinning them out into exciting, multi-staged adventures that regularly took me by surprise. One memorable example of this is the quest that sends you to find an upgrade part, but one thing leads to another – and another and another and another – and suddenly you’re emerging from a sarlacc’s maw and straight into an exciting escape from a huge sandworm. It’s the lively, left-turn stretches like these where Outlaws really shines by stringing together countless Star Wars references and Uncharted-style moments of spectacular action and adventure, and there are plenty of quests like this that I’ve undertaken so far. Given how I passed by plenty of sidequest opportunities that looked just as innocuous as this one at first glance, there are likely many more that I haven’t found yet, too. Yet at other times it was wildly unpredictable, like when I’d somehow trigger an alarm performing a stealth takedown even though it appeared that no one else was around. Instead, more often than I’d like my efforts to remain hidden would evaporate, things would get loud, and a number of other problems would present themselves.
The studio behind This War of Mine returns with a base-building game about corporate greed and a whole lot of clones. It wouldn’t feel fair to put a star rating on a game that’s only just finding its feet and putting its boots on, but there’s enough here to get excited about. Also, crossplay hasn’t been added yet, which would really enhance the social aspect of the game. I do slightly wish there was a way to unlock skins or something similar that would let you represent your real-life team, because I do miss that connection to the real world, but I understand that would be an expensive licensing situation. And since it’s launched straight on Xbox Game Pass, here’s hoping that a decent amount of people give it a chance.
If you’re a fan of Vampire Survivors and its ilk, you’re going to want to play Soulstone Survivors, out now on PC and consoles. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a solid fighting game compilation but an even better example of game preservation done right. Futuristic Switch 2 exclusive racing game Fast Fusion is plenty of fun, but a couple of missteps keep it from reaching its full potential. Nintendo Switch 2 launch exclusive co-op game Survival Kids is one of the most tedious and repetitive games on the market today.
Roadcraft Review: More Than Just A Building Sim
With so much to see and die as a result of, I still feel like I’m only scratching the surface of this monstrously sized expedition into the desert. But, despite the sizable journey ahead, one thing is for sure – I’m thoroughly enjoying the grind. Rory is a Senior Entertainment Editor at Tom’s Guide based in the UK.

You can technically build a shelter almost anywhere you’d like, and with the speed at which items respawn, plopping down your possessions in open sand is an obvious no-go. On one occasion, while taking out a duo of scavengers, the firing stopped abruptly mid-fight. As I sheepishly wandered around the corner, I noticed that the second scavenger was standing frozen, as if they’d forgotten I was there.
It supports current-gen features like ray tracing, at least to some small degree, and has DLSS to help it keep up with systems that are rendering games natively. How well it will stack up with future hardware from PlayStation and Xbox is a more difficult question. Game developers will need to program with the Switch 2 in mind, especially if they try to port any ultra-demanding title like Grand Theft Auto VI in the future. There are other delightful and easily overlooked improvements that Nintendo made to the Switch 2. The aforementioned Joy-Con 2 controllers connect with a satisfying click to the console using magnets instead of the sliding rail mechanism on the original Switch.
Sure, school is hard when science lessons demand mixing an exact formula and P.E. Risks clattering into goalposts, but Teen is largely used to living with outstretched hands. Yes, you play as a T-posing child who must navigate their life with both arms perpetually raised at either side. But that’s not what the debut game from Uvula – a small studio co-founded by Katamari Damacy’s Keita Takahashi – revolves around. November 15, 2023 • Nintendo puts a new coat of paint on an old classic, tweaking its Final Fantasy-style combat just enough to succeed for a modern audience.
Considering we’ve only had the Switch 2 for two weeks, we can’t say if drifting joysticks will be a problem for the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Nintendo could have used Hall effect joysticks to guarantee Joy-Con drift wouldn’t return, but the company didn’t. [newline]At the very least, Nintendo will repair any Joy-Con 2 controllers exhibiting the input problem for free. We could play a variety of games in handheld mode and not feel like we were missing much, other than support for 4K. When the Switch 2 is hooked up to a TV via its dock, the device becomes a quiet powerhouse (the new inclusion of a fan in the dock for cooling definitely helps), at least for those games designed for its unique hardware. You can huddle next to the Switch 2 in handheld mode and not hear a mouse burp from the fans compared to the miniature jet engine you can occasionally hear blasting from a PlayStation 5.
December 4, 2023 • 2023 broke video game industry records, both in the quantity and quality of acclaimed, financially successful games. The crew are peeved, overworked, and understandably terrified. So you build a gym, social room, and, in true corpo-hell style, a contemplation room. Get the exercise endorphins flowing, kick back and watch a movie (which are live-action shorts by comedy sketch duo Chris & Jack), or play a few rounds of beer pong.
Specific interests include indie games, obscure Metroidvanias, speedrunning, experimental games and FPSs. He thinks Lulu by Metallica and Lou Reed is an all-time classic that will receive its due critical reappraisal one day. As unwieldy as the setup may seem on paper, Avowed maintains an admirable focus during its 50-odd hours. And I thought I would, given this is a game with a dynamic glossary accessible mid-conversation, à la Final Fantasy 16.
